In today's lesson we did three improvisation tasks including several different choreographic devices.
During first task we had different pieces of music playing and we had to improvise to the music.We started this on the floor with low energy movement then gradually progressed to high energy movements in stages such as rolls,floor work,slides, stretches, kicks, turns and jumps.
The second task was inspired by using our finger to write our name, which we then changed it by using different body parts to write our name including our elbow, hips, legs and feet. This was to maximise the movements and increase the intensity of the small basic movement from using our finger. We then used an adjective to adapt the movement, this was to allow us to add feeling towards a few movements that were originally basic into something creative. To improve this task you could develop the movement such as retrograding, levels, elevation and embellishment.
The third task we did was using numbers which had set movement to create a small piece of choreography that had different elements.

4-off balance

8-change direction
9-any
We made up or used our phone numbers to create diverse choreography using the movements and allowing them to flow into one another.This gave us the inspiration of how basic movement can be altered in order to become more complex, improving the overall effectiveness of the choreography.We also added movement qualities including: impulse, impact and release. This allowed us to adapt our choreography so that we could include different variations of dynamics into our movements.To improve this you can add music to allow the movements to flow and intertwine with one another and you could also adapt the movement using motif development or changing the movements.
The number I used was 07411237664 and the name Abi. I will be able to adapt these movements futher to create them to more abstract and different
It was interesting seeing your undeveloped piece at the start of class change and improve to your final piece. I really liked the use of choreographic devices within this phrase. How did you find having stimuli like our phone numbers to create choreography? Did you find that it helped out or not?

Deletei really enjoyed using our phone numbers as a basis as it allowed the process of creating this choreography a lot easier and it helped with creating ideas.
The descriptions of the creative tasks completed within the lesson are detailed and comprehensive. I am pleased you have attempted to upload more than one video to detail what I assume is the two different phrases, however I would recommend revisiting these as after attempting to play them they do not appear to work. Please use the post I uploaded on my blog if you need help uploading the videos. It would be beneficial to include a sentence or two connecting the blogs content to the videos so the reader can clearly understand what they portray.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure as to why you have included information regarding choreographic devices at this stage as these weren’t mentioned during this lesson. Upon revisiting this post, reread the task within my blog and ensure you remain focused on the questions. Just a paragraph or two about how the creative process made you feel, also the different strengths and weaknesses you will encounter during this module will answer these. You could then develop this by discussing how your strengths assisted you within the class exercise and how you will improve the potential weaknesses over the module.
It is good practice to expand on the class exercises that are set, try to think about what you have created, going into detail of why you might have incorporated certain movements and the purpose of the exercise.
Overall, some very good aspects within the post, I look forward to reading the improvements and watching your videos.

DeleteThe first video is showing the choreography using my name and the second video is portraying my number choreography.
doing these creative tasks i felt like they allowed me to explore the movements in further detail and give me an aspect of how coming up with choreography can be broken down into stages which can be easily followed.
One of my strengths during this task was creating movement which linked with my name and my number.Where as, one of the weaknesses i faced during these tasks was being able to link my movements together especially in my number choreography. As once having the movement i just needed the linking steps which is what i found difficult.
My aim is to practice on choreographing linking movement to allow me to become stronger at this and more confident.
Within the movements i created for my name task I didn't want the whole phrase to be done using one body part as it makes the piece boring. Which is why i decided to use different body parts to add more variety.
I really like your creativity in both pieces. However maybe you could include different levels to add contrast. Furthermore, maybe you could expand on your name piece by including every letter in your name. Did you enjoy this creative task?

DeleteIn answer to your question i really enjoyed doing these creative tasks even when i found parts challenging it allowed me to see how simple movement can become more complex.
I really enjoyed whatching your choreography. I enjoyed the variety of contrasting movements presented throughtout and how you clearly used the choreographic qualities to improve these. I just wondered weather you had any feelings of your successes on each piece and weather you had any weeknesses you would like to work on in the future?

DeleteIn answer to your question I faced some challenges which was in the number piece and this was creating linking movement. Completing my name piece was a success in this lesson.
